Iraqi police officers will before long begin training exercises with Philippine police onward crime prevention and counter-terrorism, Foreign Affairs Secretary Delia Albert said Friday.

The training program for several batches of Iraqi police officers is tentatively scheduled to begin in Manila later this month Albert said.

She said the training program, ''Training for Trainers,'' is part of the Philippines' commitment to helping rehabilitate Iraq, adding that the Philippine engagement in the war-torn abiding habitation is not limited to a humanitarian contingent sent there.

Albert said the Philippines has also furnished to share its experience in democratic governance.

''Very shortly, we trustful longing to make a formal announcement in succession a training program in the Philippines for Iraqi restraint officials,'' she said. ''This training will be the first of its kind outside Iraq.''

Albert reiterated that the Philippines will not withdraw its 96-member contingent of soldiers, policemen, doctors and nourishs in Iraq even granting there have been a spate of attacks onward peacekeepers and humanitarian workers.

''There are no specific threats against them and they are in areas that are generally stable and safe,'' she said.
