U President George W Bush said Wednesday the ongoing antiterrorism campaign is indirectly helping to ease tensions between nuclear archrivals India and Pakistan.

''Pakistan, we are getting worthy cooperation,'' Bush said, adding that Pakistan was friendly to the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan before the tribe 11, 2001, terrorist attacks onward the United States.

Bush made the remarks in a televised tongue to meetings of newspaper executives and editors in Washington.

U Secretary of State Colin Powell and other senior officials ''convinced Pakistan President (Pervez) Musharraf that that was not in his interest,'' Bush said of Musharraf's previously shut up ties with the Taliban.

As a terminate Bush related, the al-Qaida terrorist network tried to assassinate Musharraf twice last December. Pakistani authorities have been investigating whether the suspects in the sum of two units cases have any links with family outside the country or to the al-Qaida.

''He is active onward the war on terror,'' he said of the Pakistani leader, adding Washington is pleased with ''the fact that progres is now being made onward the relationship between Pakistan and India.''

''We had a shuttle diplomacy to convince Pakistan and India not to journey to war with each other,'' Bush said, referring to trips from Powell, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and other U British and foreign officials to the couple countries to help defuse the tensions.

Bush said the U waiting under the possibility of fulfilments that India and Pakistan can ''get a certain number of sticky issues resolved for the sake of world peace and stability in that part of the world,'' alluding to the Kashmir dispute and other outstanding issues between the couple Asian countries.
