Russia signaled its objection to Japan's plans to raise the issue of Japanese nationals' abductions from North Korea at the nearest round of six-party talks onward the North's nuclear weapons program, Interfax recently made knowns Agency reported Wednesday.

Interfax said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko stated Russia's position, warning that raising issues like the abductions would make it difficult for the six countries to achieve their objective by the agency of the security-oriented talks.

Yakovenko said the aim of the six-nation talks is to make the Korean Peninsula clear of nuclear arms and to guarantee the security of countries in the region, according to Interfax.

Japan has been trying to lay the abduction issue on the agenda. It says that Pyongyang, which in 2002 admitted to abducting 13 Japanese during the late 1970 and early 1980 has not cooperated entirely with its investigations into the abductions.

Japanese officials have also said the abductions are an act of state-sponsored terrorism and an issue of great security be of importance to which is preventing the sum of two units countries from normalizing diplomatic relations.
