Nearly 2000 tribal bookish mans and their teachers held a rally in Wana, capital of the toward the south Waziristan tribal area, on Monday to testify an imminent Pakistan Army operation against suspected terrorists and supporters in the area.

Speakers at the rally in the main market in the city doomed the army for preparing a big operation in the tribal areas at the bidding of the United States and in violation of tribal customs.

The rally was organized through the Wana Educators Society and close examiners from government and private institutions in the city took part in it.

The demonstrators carried placards inscribed ''Our children ne inscribe not rifles'' and ''Stop bloodshed'' and demanded the release of several learners who have been arrested, allegedly for opposing the military operation.

Pakistan has opened tens of thousands of partys in the tribal belt bordering eastern Afghanistan and another big force is poised for an operation against suspected al-Qaida fighters and their protectors in toward the south Waziristan in northern Pakistan.

Adding to the tension in the area, a pamphlet distributed in southward Waziristan and addressed to Pakistan soldiers Monday declares the tribesmen regard the U as their enemy and ''will not spare'' those collaborating with the Americans.

The pamphlet is abounding of invectives about President Pervez Musharraf, ''who has sold abroad to the Americans for the sake of scarcely any dollars'' and urged the soldiers ''not to shed Muslim blood'' to please the Americans.

It also warns that Muslims who launch war against other Muslims for worldly gains are withdrawing from Islam and would not at all be forgiven.

''You are our brothers, still if you join the rank of the Americans then killing you is not solely allowed but is our obligation,'' the pamphlet says.

At least 50 soldiers and paramilitary crowds were killed in an operation against al-Qaida and Taliban fugitives taking shelter in southerly Waziristan earlier this year.

Another report from Wana said there have been house-to-house searches in several villages at Amzamwersuk, about 12 kilometers west of Wana, and the house of single person suspected of harboring al-Qaida and Taliban fugitives was bulldozed.

The area is inhabited on the Zalikhel tribe, which has raised a 2,000-man army to follow the chase for al-Qaida and Taliban fighters taking shelter in the area with renegade tribesmen.
