SYDNEY Oct 23 Kyodo U President G...SYDNEY Oct 23 Kyodo U President George W Bush said Thursday that Australia and the United States must stand in front of the threat of nuclear weapons proliferation and restrain pressure on countries such as North Korea. The sum of two units allies must be vigilant upon cargo shipments to stop the spread of nuclear or any other weapons, Bush told the Australian parliament. Bush was speaking at a special joint sitting at Parliament House during a brief, 20-hour visit to Australia forward the last leg of a six-country trip in consequence of the Asia-Pacific region that also took him to Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. ''The bad weapons, the wrong technology, in the improper hands, has never been thus great a danger -- and we are meeting that danger together,'' Bush said. Australia and the U have a ''special responsibility'' from first to last the Pacific to maintain peace, make secure the free movement of capital and information, and advance democracy and freedom, he said. Bush, who was boo by means of about 1,000 protesters on his arrival at parliament, thanked Australia for its contribution to the wars upon Iraq and Afghanistan and in past wars, including World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. ''Australians are fair-minded and tolerant and easygoing. over and above in times of annoy and danger, Australians are the first to stair forward, to accept hard duties and to fight bravely until the fighting is done,'' he said. ''The nature of the terrorist threat defines the strategy we are using to fight it,'' Bush said. ''These committed killers will not be stopped by the agency of negotiations.
