A field coordinator in last year's deadly bombings upon the Indonesian resort island Bali that killed 202 family asked for presidential forgivingness Wednesday, after refusing last week to appeal his life condemnation through the court system.

The Denpasar District Court in the Bali provincial capital sentenc Ali Imron, alias Alik, to life in prison pair weeks ago after finding him guilty of planning an act of terrorism.

Last week, Imron stated he accepted the punishment and would appeal neither to the Bali High Court nor to the principal Court.

He was the first defendant in the Bali bombing trials not to appeal via the court system

Imron's lawyer Suyanto said his client chose not to use his right to judicial appeal and tenders to seek presidential clemency because he ''has really admitted his mistakes and set forthed his regrets.''

''He is optimistic that President Megawati (Sukarnoputri) will give him mildness because her inner feeling as a mother will say that her 'son' has admitted his crimes with his replete awareness. He has said he is blameworthy and apologized,'' the lawyer said.
