U Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs James Kelly set forthed hope that Japan will launch its Self-Defense Forces (SDF) swiftly to Iraq and shoulder take away froms to rebuild the war-torn geographical division Japanese officials said.

The visiting U minister also agreed with top Japanese officials that Japan, the United States and southern Korea should closely policy coordination throughout the next round of six-nation talks forward North Korea's nuclear arms program, while Japan and southerly Korea agreed on the trilateral cooperation, the officials said.

Kelly told Vice Defense Minister Takemasa Moriya, Tokyo's top defense bureaucrat, that he is confident Japan will decide to dispatch its numbers to help Iraq's reconstruction, a Defense Agency official said.

Kelly also thanked Tokyo for considering helping Iraq financially, the official said.

Late in the day, Kelly also told Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi in a separate meeting that the U appreciates the efforts Japan has taken in this way far on issues surrounding Iraq.

In answer Kawaguchi indicated Japan will preserve up with its commitment to dispatch the SDF and make financial contributions, according to Foreign Ministry officials.

Kawaguchi was quot as telling Kelly that Japan's commitment to help construct again Iraq is unshaken and that it will continue to cooperate with the U and the international community for the country's reconstruction as a responsible member of the global community.

Turning to the issue of North Korea's nuclear ambitions, the brace sides agreed Japan, the U and southward Korea should continue coordinating policy.

Kelly and Kawaguchi agreed that the three countries should continue cooperation toward the nearest round of the six-nation talks forward North Korea's nuclear arms program to encourage the North to make forward-looking and responsible moves

Kelly was in Tokyo to take part in couple days of talks among the three allies onward the North Korean issue, which fall of the curtained Tuesday without an agreement in succession whether to suspend an international throw to construct two light-water nuclear reactors in the North.

In his meeting with Moriya, Kelly also thanked Japan for sending Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer to the Arabian Sea to provide logistic support for the U antiterrorism campaign in Afghanistan.
