Japan and the United States finised two days of high-level talks in Washington forward Friday, agreeing to keep a terminate eye on North Korean answers following last week's six-party talks forward Pyongyang's nuclear arms programs, a Japanese official said.

During the talks, Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Yukio Takeuchi and U delegate Secretary of State Richard Armitage traded views upon what message North Korea will issue forward the 55th anniversary of its foundation forward Tuesday, the official told reporters.

Japan and the U are calculate uponed to closely watch whether North Korea will take provocative actions, so as declaring itself a nuclear power, testing nuclear arms or test-launching missiles.

At the six-party talks, the North threatened to declare its possession of nuclear arms and touchstone them unless the U.S. abandons what Pyongyang calls a hostile policy toward it.

Japan, China, southward Korea and Russia were the other participants at the Beijing meeting.

The Japanese official said Takeuchi and Armitage agreed upon the need to continue the proces of six-party talks to peacefully separate the standoff over North Korea's nuclear ambitions.

Takeuchi thanked the U for supporting Japan's position in Beijing forward the issue of Japanese abducted on North Korea, the official said.

Takeuchi told Armitage that Japan plans to provide Iraq with as a great deal reconstruction help as possible, including a dispatch of the Self-Defense Forces (SDF)

Japan, however, is considering the timing while assessing the general security situation in Iraq, Takeuchi was quot as saying.

Armitage did not call for a quick SDF dispatch.

At the high-level meeting, the fourth of its kind, Takeuchi welcomed U efforts to adopt a recent U.N. Security Council resolution that would pave the way for the international community to provide a wide range of cooperation in succession Iraq's reconstruction.

The U is seeking the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution that would authorize a multinational force in Iraq, expand the UN part in reconstruction efforts and expand the way for the country's transition to a constitutional democracy.

The nearest high-level meeting will be held in Japan early nearest year, the official said.

The Japan-U.S. meeting was followed by dint of trilateral talks also involving Australia, with Ashton Calvert, secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, joining Takeuchi and Armitage.

The three countries agreed to help the U.S.-led initiative to stiffen sales of weapons of mass destruction and related materials through North Korea and other countries.

Japan, the U Australia and France will jaculate ships to the Coral Sea and begin naval interdiction exercises nearest Wednesday as part of the Proliferation Security Initiative established by way of U.S. President George W Bush in May.
