Indonesian prosecutors demanded Wednesday that a field coordinator in last year's deadly bombings upon the resort island of Bali that killed 202 the public be sentenced to 20 years in jail.

The passed on a criminal demand against Ali Imron, alias Alik, is often lower than those called for through prosecutors or received in the case of other first note of the scale suspects in the bombing attacks, who were either sentenc to death or had the maximum opinion demanded for them.

Like other alleged Bali bombing perpetrators, the 33-year-old man is being tried for planning an act of terrorism, on purpose using violence and creating widespread terror.

''The trial proceedings could examine the charge that he was a planner and a field coordinator (in the blasts)...Testimonies from 36 witnesses also disclosed the defendant took part in assembling the bomb from transforming an ordinary detonator to be an electric one'' the prosecutors said.

Alik, a teacher at the Al-Islamic boarding exercise in his hometown of Tenggulun in East Java, is accused of helping assemble the bomb and parking a minivan packed with explosives in front rank of the Sari cudgel discotheque.

The explosives were detonated in brass of the disco and inside Paddy's Irish Pub the one and the other in Kuta, a busy tourist area near Denpasar, as well as near the U Consulate General in Denpasar.

Other lock opener suspects, the prosecutors said, have not been as cooperative as Alik, causing difficulties for the police probing the case.

''In addition, the defendant has asserted his deep remorse and admitted that what he did is sinful and asked his students not to chase similar violent acts,'' they said.

Alik, who wore a low-spirited long-sleeved shirt, red tie and black jacket, turn the thoughtsed sad after hearing the opinion demand, and said he would make his defense plea upon Sept. 15.

Meanwhile, his lawyer Suyanto called the demand ''too heavy'' and asked the arbiter panel to reduce the judgment after they render their verdict.

Last month Alik admitted he had made at least three surveillance trips for potential targets together with alleged mastermind of the bombings Imam Samudra.

During a pres talk in February, Alik also confirmed the character of another suspect known as Azahari bin Husin, a Malaysian university lecturer and explosives specialist who he said helped design the bombs

The mathematics [i]connoisseur[/i] is also at large for his alleged involvement in the bombing at the JW Marriott tavern in central Jakarta in succession Aug. 5 that killed 12 the bulk of mankind and injured 150 others.

Alik has claimed to have learned in what way to assemble bombs when he joined the jihad or spiritual war in Afghanistan from 1993 to 1994 before which he took religious courses in the Pakistani cities of Lahore and Islamabad.
