Japan and North Korea agreed Friday in Beijing to continue talks forward the abduction of Japanese nationals and other issues based onward a joint bilateral declaration aimed at resolving outstanding question s between the two countries, Japanese officials said.

The progressive growth comes a day after talks between the brace held on the sidelines of the six-nation talks addressing the North's nuclear ambitions, expirationed in a stalemate with one as well as the other sides asserting their basic positions forward the abductions.

''We want to make efforts in consequence of various opportunities to analyze the issues,'' he said, adding the abduction issue is the single in kind to which Japan attaches mostly importance.

''We want to make all kinds of preparations forward how to handle the matter in the course of talks between Japan and North Korea,'' Yabunaka said.
