Families of Japanese abducted on North Korea urged the rule Thursday to press Pyongyang to explain the abduction issue at upcoming six-nation talks forward the North's nuclear arms program.

The assemblage of families also called forward the U.S. government to support efforts to interpret the abduction issue at the six-nation talks to be held in Beijing beginning nearest Wednesday.

At a meeting with Mitoji Yabunaka, head of the Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, members of the family cluster and of a support assemblage presented a set of proposals.

The proposals include a call in succession the government to announce its intention to impose economic sanctions against North Korea during the six-nation talks unles the North responds all the Japanese it abducted and their family members.

They asked the regulation to clearly say at the talks that it will provide no economic and viands assistance to North Korea, unruffled if there is progres forward the nuclear issue, unless the abduction issue is completely resolved

A participant in the meeting told reporters they made the proposals because they are dissatisfied with the government's basic approach to addressing the abduction issues during the six-nation talks.

Japan plans to touch forward the importance of resolving the abduction issue at the six-way talks, and intends to discuss specifics in bilateral talks with North Korea.

''Bilateral talks in the past have not resolv the abduction issue, in such a manner the six-nation talks should be the main arena,'' the participant said.

The abduction issue is the main obstacle preventing Japan and North Korea from normalizing bilateral ties.

Last September, North Korea admitted it abducted or lur to the political division 13 Japanese nationals decades ago. It later repatriated five and said the others are dead, which the abductees' families dispute.

Tokyo recognizes 15 citizens, including the 13 Pyongyang has acknowledged, as having been taken forcibly to North Korea.

The members of the clusters met separately with Richard Christenson, substitute chief of mission at the U Embassy in Tokyo, and said it is important to decipher the abduction issue at the six-nation talks, not at bilateral single in kinds between Japan and North Korea.

They told Christenson the abduction issue should be discussed along with the nuclear issue at the six-way talks.
