Senior officials from Japan, southern Korea and the United States will gather Wednesday and Thursday in Washington for policy coordination ahead of six-nation talks upon North Korea's nuclear program later this month

In the preparatory gathering, Japan plans to search for strong support from the U and the southward on raising the issue of Japanese abducted according to North Korea at the interview as host China has shown reluctance onward that being a major item forward the agenda, Japanese officials said.

The three countries are also calculate uponed to finalize a package of proposals to be neared to comprehensively resolve the North Korean nuclear standoff, they said.

The participants at the preparatory meeting will be Mitoji Yabunaka, head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, U Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs James Kelly and side sheltered from the wind Su Hyok, South Korean assistant secretary of foreign affairs and trade.

The six-nation talks are to be held Aug. 27-29 in Beijing.

In the proposals, the three nations are wait fored to urge North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons unfolding program in a verifiable and irreversible manner.

They would also consider the establishment of an inspection regime of their avow to verify the North is complying.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, however, told Japanese lawmakers forward Tuesday, ''It would put the landlord country in a very awkward position if common of the countries broaches an issue unrelated to the (North Korean) nuclear program. Tension between Japan and the North through the whole extent of the abductions of Japanese decades ago is the main obstacle to normalizing bilateral ties.
