southward Korean President Roh Moo Hyun told Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in succession Thursday that South Korea wants China to continue to play a ''constructive role'' in six-nation talks later this month onward North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

''I reliance China plays a constructive part in the (six-party) talks to achieve substantive outcomes of resolving the (nuclear) moot point peacefully,'' a presidential spokesman quot Roh as telling Li at their meeting at the in the dumps House presidential office.

Li arrived in Seoul from Tokyo onward Wednesday for a three-day visit. At talks with southern Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Yoon Young Kwan onward Wednesday, Li and Yoon agreed to work closely for the six-way talks fix to be held Aug. 27-29 in Beijing.

At Thursday's meeting with Li, Roh said his management appreciates efforts made by the agency of Chinese leaders to settle the dispute arising from the North's nuclear weapons program, according to the spokesman.

In reply to Roh's remarks, the Chinese foreign minister said his sway is making all-out efforts for the prosperous holding of the six-party talks, and wants toward the south Korea to do so as well.

In a major turnaround of stance, North Korea agreed late last month to take part in multilateral talks, after insisting previously onward bilateral negotiations with the United States to analyze the standoff over its nuclear weapons program.

The six-way talks, involving the sum of two units Koreas, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia, are aimed at defusing a 10-month standoff throughout U.S. allegations that North Korea is trying to disclose nuclear weapons in violation of a 1994 antinuclear agreement with the U and other international agreements.
