Taiwan is renewing its bid for membership in the United Nations, the island's Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

''Fifteen of our diplomatic allies submitted a joint proposal to the UN in succession Tuesday to support our bid to participate in the organization and petitioned the U.N. General Assembly to discuss the bid onward the agenda of its 58th session slated for September,'' Vice Foreign Minister Michael Kau told a pres conference

Kau quot the proposal as calling Taiwan's exclusion from the world dead body a ''moral and legal challenge for the international community.''

Moreover, the Republic of China, as Taiwan is called here, is a released and peace-loving state and ''its democratically-elected dominion is the only legitimate dominion able to represent the interests and wishes of the clan of Taiwan in the UN'' he said.

''However, the bid is to have the international community realize our frustrations and perceive sympathy for our difficulties. For that, we have to be pragmatic and realistic,'' he said.
