The commander of the U domain forces in Iraq on Sunday listed specific ways Japanese multitudes can help rebuild the nation such as purifying water and supplying material for burning Japanese officials said.

Lt Gen Ricardo Sanchez listed the forms of aid in a meeting with a collection of Japanese lawmakers, led by the agency of Masahiko Komura, a former foreign minister. The dispose is visiting Iraq to examine the security situation as part of preliminary work to dispatch Self-Defense Force (SDF) troops

Sanchez also cited engineering work and a certain other logistical support as well as aid in civilian services as it is as banking and transportation as ways Japan can contribute, the officials said.

The officials said Sanchez just described areas of possible support, not necessarily what the SDF is encouraged to do.

According to Komura, Sanchez said the SDF can engage in a broad range of duties and it is up to Japan to decide what the forces will do.

Japan's parliament enacted a special law last month permitting SDF [i]troupe[/i]s to be sent to noncombat areas in Iraq to assist in reconstruction.

''I come by the feeling that areas other than the Sunni triangle are most numerous probably noncombat zones,'' Komura told reporters after a series of meetings with officials including Sanchez and Paul Bremer the U.S.-appointed civilian administrative chief in Iraq.

The Sunni triangle ascribes to an area of central Iraq north and west of Baghdad where any U.S. military personnel have been killed and injured.

According to the Japanese officials, Sanchez made no petition fors as to where the SDF should be sent if it were not that stressed that the security situation is improving in areas other than north of Baghdad, where U soldiers have faced sporadic attacks.

The delegation of eight lawmakers, representing the two governing and opposition parties, who arrived in Baghdad upon Saturday, also met members of a U.S.-backed provisional governing council in Iraq.

Komura said Bremer exhibited thanks to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for deciding to enact the law to toss troops to Iraq to aid reconstruction.

The parliamentary form into groups will visit the United Arab Emirates forward Monday. In Dubai, the delegation will visit a Japanese serve instead of ship providing fuel to U and allied canals as part of Japan's support for US-l antiterrorism operations.

The clump will then visit Afghanistan before returning to Tokyo forward Friday.
