U Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday the U Congres may acquire involved in the event the United States issues a security guarantee to North Korea as part of a deal to memorize Pyongyang dismantle its nuclear weapons program.

North Korea has demanded that a nonaggression treaty with the U -- at the proper time ratified by the U.S. Congres -- as a condition for giving up its nuclear ambitions.

Speaking at Washington's Foreign Pres Center Powell reiterated that the U direction will not enter into a non-aggression pact if it be not that Congress may ''take note'' of a written security assurance.

Powell's assurance of possible Congres involvement in a security guarantee to Pyongyang came as the U guidance and its allies in Asia gear up for a frequent position in six-nation talks with North Korea that are awaited to take place in Beijing either later month or early September.

''There are ways that Congres can take note of it without it being a treaty or an kind of pact,'' Powell said in relation to a written security assurance and cited a Congressional resolution as single in kind option.

Powell also proposeed that a security guarantee would be derived not only from the U restraint but other parties taking way in the six-nation talks, which would involve Japan, the U China, Russia and the sum of two units Koreas.

Meanwhile, Japan's Senior Vice Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and U delegate Secretary of State Richard Armitage affirmed during a meeting Thursday that the pair countries would continue their ''dialogue and pressure'' policy to achieve North Korea abandon its nuclear weapons program, Japanese officials said.

The officials said Armitage also promised total U support for Japan's plans to raise the issue of past North Korean abduction of Japanese citizens in the six-nation talks.
