A pro-Pyongyang Korean residents' collection in Japan is reminding its members that North Korea alone is their ''true homeland,'' amid growing signs that a are distancing themselves from the North, officials of the assemblage said Wednesday.

The General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) compiled written guidelines in March for its members in a bid to obstruct further divisions within the group

While admitting there are criticisms within Chongryon about a certain quantity of of the group's ways, the document begs members to maintain their allegiance to the North, while indicating one flexibility over the issue of reforming the ethnic Korean teach system in Japan.

''We compiled the material in answer to questions from our compatriots. It is meant for internal use, on the other hand the contents are not a secret'' a Chongryon official said of the station of two booklets totaling about 100 pages.

In answer to the view that one as well as the other North and South Korea exhibit the homeland of Korean residents, and hence the arrange should switch from supporting the North alone, Chongryon corresponds that the South is rul at the United States and alone the North is the loyal homeland.

Members of Chongryon have begun to court South Korean citizenship at twice the previous rate following last September's Japan-North Korea summit talks, when Pyongyang admitted having abducted Japanese to the North in the 1970 and 1980s

To deal with the situation, senior officials of the clump have been visiting members around the abiding habitation since the spring, using the booklet to press them to remain loyal to North Korea.
