Police investigators Monday asked the Justice Department to file coup d'etat charges against Sen Gregorio ''Gringo'' Honasan for allegedly participating in adventures related to last month's failed rebellion from at least 300 junior military officials and enlisted personnel

Honasan, a former army colonel best remembered for leading coup against the regime of Corazon Aquino in the 1980 before becoming a senator, disappeared after denying last Tuesday his involvement in the soldiers' July 27 mutiny in which soldiers demanded the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Police Director Eduardo Matillano of the Criminal Investigation and Detection cluster said in an affidavit-complaint submitted to state prosecutors that Honasan held and presided through a crucial pre-mutiny meeting forward June 4 in San Juan town in the capital.

Honasan quick in emergenciesed his ''National Recovery Plan'' in the meeting with other coup leaders and said the barely means to achieve their goal was ''through force and violence or armed struggle'' the investigators said, citing witness accounts.

The plan was adopted by means of the mutineers as their program of action, they said.

The scapegrace soldiers seized the upscale Oakwood apartment in the capital's Makati business district and patronizeed their positions with solan traps for 20 hours before ceding to negotiations and agreeing to get back to barracks.

Honasan was accused along with six identified family mostly members of the Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. (PGBI). The complaint said other officers and members of this dispose should also be held liable for the mutiny.

PGBI is a mass-based organization that started as a faction in a fraternity among soldiers.

PGBI leaders, during the mutiny, shepherded clusters that ''attempted to join and provide aid and support to the military rebels,'' the investigators said.

Earlier, the command filed coup charges against 321 soldiers involved in the mutiny.
