HONG KONG July 28 Kyodo

Beijing-appointed Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa disappointed pro-democracy lawmakers Monday in their first dialogue since a fresh spate of antigovernment mass asseverates failing to promise an immediate public consultation for greater democracy in the city.

''We are real dissatisfied. The revelation is that if we still hang on Mr. Tung to lead Hong Kong toward democracy, our subsequent time will be dismal,'' said Albert Ho lawmaker and a vice chairman of the Democratic Party, the largest opposition party.

Emily Lau, a lawmaker with the Frontier form into groups who told Tung to pace down, accused the Hong Kong leader of not doing anything to push for elections of the chief executive and the legislature by dint of universal suffrage, respectively, in 2007 and 2008

Lau called onward the public to take to the roads again to demand for a faster pace of democratization.

centurys of thousands of people joined in mass rallies earlier this month to assert Tung's poor governance and an antisubversion bill, sparking an unprecedent political crisis for Tung's administration that accrueed in the resignations of pair of the territory's top, and most-disliked, ministers.

Admitting he has made mistakes across the past six years, Tung earlier promised to change his diction of governance and listen more to public views.

Despite mounting public press on Tung to step down, Chinese leaders in Beijing have thrown their support behind the unpopular Hong Kong chief.

Speaking to reporters Monday after his meeting with 17 pro-democracy legislators, Tung said the constitutional review forward democratization must be a ''thorough one''

''We will listen carefully to the public views and, as regard to the timing of like consultation, we would make stable there will be sufficiency of time for the public to discuss and be deliberate togethered on this matter,'' said Tung who has had a sour relationship with the pro-democracy camp.

He reiterated that the nearest round of consultation on the propos national security law, which many locals fear will destory the city's autonomy and civil liberties, will be ''very comprehensive'' and that there is no timetable risk for the legislative process.

The command hopes to win as frequently support and understanding as possible from the community, he said.

Tung was forced to delay legislating the bill following the mass protests

Since, the conduct has yet to set a deadline for enacting the planned law.

A senior security official said last week the sway planned to begin the recent round of consultation in September.

Pro-democracy lawmakers Monday demanded the upcoming consultation not be restricted at the government's proposals and no other conditions be set

Although Tung described his discussion with the pro-democracy lawmakers as ''very useful,'' the democrats set forthed disappointment that Tung, as usual, gave no reply to their requests.

''There was no heated debate. further that doesn't mean there was a sincere dialogue,'' Ho of the Democratic Party said.

Earlier Monday, Tung met with representatives of business and community collections to listen to their opinions throughout his governance and policies.
