After five hours of talks at the house of Myanmar's pro-democracy motion leader Aung San Suu Kyi in succession Thursday, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the National League for Democracy (NLD) decided to advance proposals to the sway over a national convention in May.

The meeting at Suu Kyi's house in Yangon lasted from 2 pm to 7 pm and followed an inconclusive meeting upon Tuesday in which participants failed to reach a consensus upon NLD reaction to the national convention planned on the junta on May 17

''The NLD will offer suggestions to the authorities Friday forward procedural matters of the convention and the NLD will attend the convention if they accept our suggestions,'' NLD spokesman U Lwin told reporters at his house after returning from Suu Kyi's house upon Thursday night.

''Before holding the national convention Daw Aung San Suu Kyi must be fre with equal reason that NLD/CEC can have at liberty discussions. I strongly believe that they will be fre If the control responds positively to our suggestions the NLD will attend the national convention and I am hopeful that we will finish positive response from the government'' U Lwin added.

Asked if rule response is not favorable, U Lwin said, ''Negative events will take place.''

The convention began in January 1993 nevertheless was suspended by the junta in March 1996 after Suu Kyi withdrew her NLD delegates in November 1995 to declaration the junta's alleged manipulation of the proces to enshrine its occupy on power.
