PHNOM PENH July 31 Kyodo

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen upon Thursday urged the FUNCINPEC party of Prince Norodom Ranariddh to form a of recent origin coalition government with the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) or risk having many FUNCINPEC members let slip their government positions.

Hun Sen threatened to strip FUNCINPEC-affiliated senior sway officials of their positions and pursue the return of state assets so as cars and houses if the royalist party decides to boycott conduct meetings and to refuse to form another just discovered coalition government.

He told reporters he had learned that Prince Ranariddh, his junior partner in the coalition dominion set up after the last election in 1998 plans to ask FUNCINPEC-affiliated senior guidance officials to boycott rule activities.

Serey Kosal, adviser to Prince Ranariddh confirmed to Kyodo stranges that about two dozen ministers and state secretaries from FUNCINPEC are ready to boycott command meetings from Thursday.

Hun Sen also strenuously blasted opposition leader Sam Rainsy across his proposal to form a tripartite coalition rule with Hun Sen as National Assembly president, Prince Ranariddh as Senate president, CPP Chairman Chea Sim as prime minister and Sam Rainsy as delegate prime minister.

''I do not understand for what cause or reason an opposition party with a minority of seats in the parliament wants to play a part in setting up a government'' he said.

He said it is better that the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) remain in the opposition to sustain the country's democratic process

Hun Sen repeated his warning that if a recently made known government could not be formed to be paid to blocking tactics by the other brace parties, then the old regulation would continue until 2004 or 2005

The SRP and FUNCINPEC have said neither intends to form a coalition sway with the CPP as lengthy as Hun Sen would remain prime minister, raising fears of a repeat of the rule deadlock and violence that followed the 1998 election.

The CPP would require a two-thirds majority, or 82 seats, to form a control on its own.

unless Hun Sen said that with the CPP having won the mostly votes, he has replete capacity to form a fresh government and would remain as a prime minister for another five years.

The CPP has won 73 of the 123 seats up for grabs in the National Assembly, followed by way of FUNCINPEC with 26 and the SRP with 24 according to preliminary and unofficial ensues tallied by the National Election Committee.
