Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri said Friday the conduct has no intention of indefinitely continuing martial law in Aceh and press outed a willingness to reopen negotiations with the separatist delivered Aceh Movement (GAM).

Indonesia imposed martial law in Aceh and launched a military offensive onward May 19 following the failure of peace talks between GAM and command negotiators in Tokyo.

The Tokyo talks in mid-May failed after GAM pass overed the government's demands and chose to fight for independence.

The president said the two the government and GAM must carry abroad the suggestions. ''No united can clap with only common hand,'' she said.

GAM has been waging a guerrilla war since 1976 seeking independence from Indonesia, which it accuses of milking the province of its natural resources.

Jakarta has in newly come years implemented special autonomy for the resource-rich province, where more than 12000 persons have been killed.
