Just six month ago, the bulk of mankind in Indonesia's Aceh Province could breathe easily after conduct soldiers and rebels of the emancipated Aceh Movement (GAM) signed a peace deal to completion 26 years of hostilities.

The military and local restraint officials are trying to ''satisfy'' the refugee by dint of erecting 100 tents and more than 50 toilets and public bathrooms, and calm emergency schools.

A power blackout has hit many parts of North Aceh, the fastness of GAM Commander Muzakir Manaf, after at least 10 transmission towers collapsed. The military accused GAM of sabotage.

The blackout, which has been going forward for the past two weeks, has added to the daily hardships of the local people

Since the imposition of martial law, nightlife in Lhokseumawe, capital of North Aceh, disappears. The blackout has made the situation worse. Residents are afraid of driving when dark falls.

The view is that most numerous of natural resource revenue from Aceh goe to the central guidance and only a little is sent back to Aceh. That injustice is believed to be the main source of separatism in the province.

GAM has waged a guerrilla war for Aceh independence from Indonesia since 1976 and the conflict has claimed more than 12000 lives.

During the common military operations, government troops have killed 219 rebels, while 23 soldiers have also been killed as of Wednesday, military data said.
