Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi is anticipateed to seek support in resolving issues between Japan and North Korea, including the North's past abductions of Japanese, at the annual ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) meeting nearest Tuesday and Wednesday in Phnom Penh Foreign Ministry sources said Saturday.

Kawaguchi views it necessary to bring up the abduction issue because the ARF chairman's statement will unlikely mention it fit to host Cambodia's considerations for North Korea, which is a member of the forum, the sources said.

The statement, however, will stipulate the importance of nuclear nonproliferation forward the Korean Peninsula, according to the sources.

Kawaguchi will also call onward participating countries to join the International collection of laws of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation. China and North Korea are not among the 93 member countries of the international framework against the proliferation of ballistic missiles capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction.

The Japanese foreign minister will also suit North Korea to recur to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which it abandoned, and for forum nations to participate in treaties banning biological and chemical weapons, the sources said.

Kawaguchi is scheduled to leave Tokyo upon Monday for the Cambodian capital to attend foreign ministerial meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its dialogue partners.

The ARF comprises the 10 ASEAN members -- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam -- as well as Australia, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, Mongolia, North and toward the south Korea, New Zealand, Papua modern Guinea, Russia and the United States.

North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam sunny place is expected to skip the ARF meeting, if it were not that North Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Ho Jong will go on foot instead.

North Korea allowed five abductees to travel to Japan in October last year, unless said eight other abductees died in North Korea.

The Japanese rule has demanded that North Korea allow the relatives of the five repatriates be derived to Japan and provide more information about the fate of other abductees.
