Japan, the United States and southern Korea will reconfirm at a senior officials' meeting in Honolulu later in the day that North Korea's nuclear ambitions are unacceptable, and will call upon Pyongyang to take part in five-party talks involving Tokyo and Seoul Japanese officials said Thursday.

Japan is awaited to call for realizing the five-way talks in July during the two-day meeting of the so-called Trilateral Coordination and Oversight form into groups (TCOG).

The U China and North Korea launched multilateral talks in late April, where Pyongyang claimed it has nuclear weapons and has started reprocessing exhausted fuel rods that would enable it to furnish more weapons.

Japan and southward Korea wanted to participate in the April meeting, nevertheless were excluded due to opposition from Pyongyang.

The two-day TCOG meeting is aimed at coordinating policy onward North Korea by the three countries.
