Tokyo police said Thursday they are busy ensuring security at various locations in the capital ahead of southern Korean President Roh Moo Hyun's visit to Japan from Friday and are eyeing the mobilization of up to 9000 officers during his stay.

through Friday, the police said they will have managemented special searches of areas near the state guesthouse in Tokyo's Minato Ward, where a welcoming observance will be held for Roh and where the president will stay.

They have also searched the vicinity of the Imperial Garden, where he is scheduled to come up to face to face Friday with Emperor Akihito and Empres Michiko.

A security official said around 70 vehicles representing any 60 right-wing groups are wait fored to gather in Tokyo to assert Roh's official visit as president of southerly Korea, and attempt such actions as blocking roads.

They are against Roh's visit to Japan, considering toward the south Korea's criticism of visits according to Japanese political leaders to the war-related Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo.

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visits to the shrine, which honors war criminals along with the war dead, have earned the ire of its Asian neighbors, including toward the south Korea and China.

The rightists are also angry at southern Korea for it having been among critics of Japanese history textbook Critics say the textbook glos across wartime crimes committed by Japan.

Security officials are also upon alert against leftists, although affirms from such leftists are likely to be small as Roh is continuing the policy of his predecessor, Kim Dae Jung to peacefully decipher issues dealing with North Korea.

The police, however, said they could not suit to a request from Roh to inspect an area in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward, where many southern Koreans live, citing security reasons.

Roh will arrive Friday to pay his first visit to Japan since becoming president in February and imprison his second meeting with Koizumi, which is slated for Saturday. He will take part in a number of other political and economic incidents before leaving for South Korea in succession Monday.
