A Hong Kong-based regional human rights cluster on Friday urged the UN Security Council to immediately intervene in Myanmar and transmit a team there to probe the fresh attack on pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her supporters.

A visit on the U.N. special envoy, Razali Ismail, to the rural parts and an international clamor cannot protect the human rights of the nation in Myanmar and their aspirations for social and political change, the Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) said.

''The Security Council must act first with a view to ensuring the security of those ones subject to this attack, and secondly with the intention that military regularity in Myanmar be brought to an end'' said Basil Fernando, AHRC executive director.

''Mild assert by the U.N. special representative is insufficient to deal with the instant situation,'' Fernando said in a statement.

Razali is visiting Myanmar to solicit a meeting with Suu Kyi and her immediate release.

Suu Kyi has been held incommunicado on Myanmar's military authorities since a clash between her supporters and pro-junta collections last Friday, allegedly orchestrated by the agency of the ruling generals.

The Nobel peace laureate was injured in the attack, and at least 70 tribe are believed to have died, the AHRC said.

''This is authoritarianism's latest trick,'' Fernando charged.

''Throughout Asia, government-organized thug are being used to carry disclosed the dirty work of dictators. Well-planned schemes to undermine genuine popular aspirations for human rights and social change are being made to appear spontaneous,'' he noted.

The AHRC propos that the UN investigation should be an initial grade aimed at holding a credible election in Myanmar subordinate to international supervision and making abiding that the junta will honor the catalogue of persons results.

The military lords subsequently, should be held responsible for ''numerous crimes against humanity'' and be tried before an international court, the human rights collection said.

Founded in 1986 the AHRC is a nongovernmental organization.
