Lawyers for Taiwan's main opposition parties filed a lawsuit with the High Court forward Monday seeking to nullify last month's disputed presidential election that President Chen Shui-bian won by the agency of a razor-thin margin.

It is the next to the first suit related to the election filed from the parties -- defeated presidential candidate Lien Chan's Nationalist Party (KMT) and his running mate James Soong' family First Party.

At a of recent origins conference, lawyers representing the opposition accused the election organizer -- the Central Election Commission (CEC) -- of violating a law stipulating that no national referendum should be held together with the presidential election.

The March 20 election was held alongside a ''defensive referendum'' forward relations with China, a induce considered by some an election ploy for Chen to court voters.
