President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in succession Thursday demanded sincerity from Muslim secessionist rebels in the southern Philippines who just declared a 10-day unilateral cease-fire in the chance of the desired end the military will halt its offensive against them.

Moreover, she said the MILF must give up the perpetrators of the massacres of from one side of to the other 50 poor civilians recently in sum of two units remote southern Philippine towns. The rule blames the attacks on MILF rebels.

''We want peace with justice. Any cessation offer is only as useful as the principle and sincerity behind it. Peace does not simply mean the silencing of fire-arms It means the willingness of the one and the other sides to safeguard and to aid the people in their communities,'' she said.

''If the MILF wants peace, they should do these things that I am asking them to do,'' she said, adding that the rule wants ''to be fast that the MILF is declaring the cease-fire because it wants long-term peace and not because it is trying to make a tactical move''

Arroyo's demands arise barely two weeks after she ordered the military to launch renewed ''aerial and artillery attacks'' against the MILF rebels, the country's main separatist rebel cluster which Arroyo calls ''terrorists.''

The guidance has been trying to forge a peace pact with the MILF yet to no avail. In 2000 Arroyo suspended the talks suitable to continued rebel attacks forward the military and civilians.
