Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri indicated Thursday that a military operation will not be imposed in the troubl province of Aceh in the near what may occur hereafter at least until July 9 when the validity of a peace deal with the separatist at liberty Aceh Movement (GAM) ends

''The president said that until July 9 the Cessation of Hostilities Framework Agreement is valid as an agreement,'' Japanese Ambassador Yutaka Iimura told a media briefing.

Iimura quot Megawati as saying, ''At this stage, we agree to disentangle this problem through dialogue. unless for this purpose, two conditions are required, that GAM shall accept the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia and special autonomy and that it is willing to lay down their arms.''

''On July 9 we will consider if we will take a secondary option or not,'' she was quot as saying.

The proces of negotiations between the Indonesian guidance and GAM reached its lowest point last week when Jakarta canceled its attendance at a meeting with the rebels Friday after the latter asked for a postponement of the talks.

The sway also criticized the Geneva-based Henri Dunant Center (HDC) which has factored the peace process for the last three years, for its failure to ready GAM representatives to the Friday meeting.

''Consolidation of peace is a keyword in Japan's foreign policy and for a consolidation of peace in Aceh, the Japanese direction is ready to give any support,'' the ambassador said, adding the support will be in the form of reconstruction and disclosure of Aceh.

In the meeting, Yano also reaffirmed Japan's stance to ''support the unity of Indonesian soil.''
