Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, has refused to withdraw from occupied territories unles the Palestinians stop all terrorist attacks.

Palestine's Abbas, however, has said it is up to Israel to first withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories. Cease-fire is the initial pace toward peace, but even the way to this first pace is not yet visible.

Hours after Prime Minister Abbas was sworn into office, Palestinian radicals struck with notwithstanding another suicide bombing in Tel Aviv and Israel suited with tanks and helicopters.

Unles this circle of time of attack and retaliation can in some way be severed, there can be no beginning. We conjure the Abbas administration to crack down forward terrorists without flinching. At the same time, the Sharon administration must stop excessive counterattacks and stop expanding Jewish settlements

Bush has cautioned Israel that peace must originate at a certain price. We sense of possible fulfilment he will be true to his word and continue to be a fair and impartial arbiter in the peace process

The U dominion abandoned Yasser Arafat as the negotiating partner for the Palestinians, condemning his lack of ability to effectively halt terrorism. Abbas now faces the example of whether he has the leadership authority to succe Arafat.

To attain a leadership mandate, the just discovered prime minister needs a general election. metes of office of all the Palestinian parliament have already expired. The election, originally scheduled for January, has been indefinitely postponed

If international watchers are dispatched to the Palestinian territories for the election, they should help 1 violence and clashes with the Israelis.
