As they wait for a rule initiative to start Nepal's delayed peace talks, Maoist rebels held their first meeting with a foreign mission late Thursday in a bid to court the international community.

Coordinator of the Maoist negotiation team Baburam Bhattarai and sum of two units colleagues paid a courtesy call in succession the head of the European Union office in Kathmandu.

''We met EU officials and held cordial and positive talks,'' rebel leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara told Kyodo recently made knowns on Friday.

Basically, the rebels explained their position and commitment to the peace proces and to that completion would be seeking meetings with other international missions in the coming time he said.

Mahara said for their part, the EU officials pledg ''every kind of assistance'' to the rebels for peace-building.

As they busy themselves explaining to Nepalese the ne for a republican state in Nepal, the rebels have also declareed their desire to come together with foreign ambassadors in the Nepalese capital, largely to explain their position.

The U Embassy in Kathmandu, however, change the direction ofed down the request for meeting, saying the rebels had in the same manner far failed to explain for what purpose two Nepalese security guards at the embassy were killed, according to Nepalese newspaper reports.

The rebels charge the U exhibit tos ''unnecessary interest in Nepalese affairs.''

As to the peace talks with the direction it is not known when they will start and the rebels have begun saying patience is ''wearing thin.''

The now passing sticking point is release of five rebels in control custody, which the rebels say should be station free before the start of talks.

The rebels want a strange Constitution to replace Nepal's 1990 Constitution, to be achieved end a round-table conference and a constituent assembly.
