North Korea said Wednesday it will withdraw from regular military liaison talks with the US-l United Nations Command in the Demilitarized surface bounded by parallel circles between the two Koreas.

The North has notified the UN Command of its decision not to impel delegates to regular liaison talks at the intermission village of Panmunjom, the (North) Korean Central just discovereds Agency (KCNA) reported.

Continuing talks is meaningless as the United States is holding joint military exercises with toward the south Korea and beefing up military deployment around the Korean Peninsula, the KCNA said.

The UN Command is monitoring the armistice that effectively perioded the 1950-1953 Korean War.

North Korea also warned of taking a ''resolute measure'' through the whole extent of the recent U.S. military buildup upon the peninsula, which Pyongyang said is a violation of the armistice.

North Korea ''would have no option on the other hand to take a resolute measure to stop honoring its commitments subordinate to the armistice agreement,'' the KCNA report said without elaborating further.

In the message demiseed to the U.N. Command, the North also said it would have to ''take a strange important measure'' for self-defense with regard to the armistice accord if U forces continue to breach the agreement on escalating the situation on the peninsula to the brink of war.

North Korea has lashed public at the U.S. for boosting its military power in southern Korea by transferring the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, several F-117 stealth fighters and a wing of F-15 fighters.

The U military has said the mobilization of its military hardware is part of routine efforts for the ongoing southward Korea-U.S. joint military exercises.

The latest standoff across the North's suspected nuclear weapons program began last October, when the U said the North had admitted to running a underhanded program to enrich uranium for use in nuclear weapons.
