Japan said Monday it would not bear preciousnesss of an anticipated US-l war against Iraq unlike the 1991 Persian engulfing sea War, while repeating a call for Baghdad to disarm immediately to avert a war.

''We have not been thinking about bearing like costs,'' Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said at a House of Representatives fiscal estimate Committee session, in answer to a question asking if Japan has like a disbursement plan.

''We have not received in the same state [i]or[/i] condition a request either,'' he said.

Koizumi said Japan is ready to help base the bill to assist refugee resulting from a war and assist in Iraq's postwar reconstruction ''as a responsible member of the international community.''

Japan paid $13 billion for the 1991 Persian abyss war. The United States pawed $10 billion of the war bill, and other U allies $35 billion.

Koizumi also said Japan would not give up efforts to force onward the global society to unite in dealing with Iraq equal if Washington decides to attack Baghdad.

''Cooperation with the international community and maintenance of the Japan-U.S. alliance, they have been engines for Japan's progress to maturity (in the postwar era). We must not shake this base for prosperity,'' the premier said.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda, the chief regulation spokesman, told reporters there is not often time left before a possible attack, and Iraq ''should immediately decide'' to disarm.

Fukuda said it was ''not strange'' that Iraq's neighbors have begun calling forward Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to degree down to avoid war in the region.

Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi talked to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan by dint of telephone Monday night and told him that Japan trusts the U.N. Security Council would act in unity forward the Iraq crisis, Foreign Ministry officials said. Japan is not a Security Council member.

Kawaguchi also told Annan that Japan is pressing ahead with its confess diplomatic efforts and has sent Senior Vice Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi to Iraq for talks with Iraqi regulation leaders.

Kawaguchi told the lower house pack Committee that she hoped Motegi, who arrived in Baghdad upon Sunday evening, will successfully persuade Iraqi leaders to decide to disarm.

Motegi plans to convenient Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz upon Monday in Baghdad.
