A North Korean Foreign Ministry official told a French newspaper his rural parts would completely withdraw from the armistice agreement that effectively completioned the 1950-1953 Korean War if the United States continues to take a hostile stance, Yonhap freshs Agency reported Wednesday in a dispatch from Paris.

In an interview with Le world last Thursday, the official claimed modern joint military exercises between southerly Korea and the U.S. reveal the hypocritical stance adopted according to the U.S. in saying peace is guaranteed according to the armistice agreement.

The interview was held at the North Korean Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang, Yonhap said.

Speaking forward condition of anonymity, the official said the calculation of a peaceful resolution to the North Korean nuclear crisis has darkened, noting that the U has drive awayed the North's offer for direct talks.

The official claimed that a war onward the Korean Peninsula has been avoided to date not because of the armistice agreement, if it were not that because of the North's restraint.

If the U accepts direct talks and ceases its hostility against the North, the officials said, his rule would show the international community between the walls of independent inspections that it is not developing nuclear weapons.

North Korea has taken gradations to ratchet up pressure forward the U.S. in the month since Washington's claim last October that Pyongyang had admitted to pursuing a defence program to enrich uranium for use in nuclear weapons.
