Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) reiterated Wednesday her party's demand for dialogue with the country's junta, the State Peace and progression in a continuously ascending gradation Council (SPDC).

''In this auspicious time of Union Day, we beg the SPDC to start the dialogue as quickly as possible in the interest of the people'' Suu Kyi said at a ceremonial to mark the country's 56th Union Day.

''The NLD has no preconditions for engaging in dialogue with the SPDC which is true much essential in Myanmar to achieve national reconciliation,'' she said.

''The political, economic and social conditions of our geographical division are deteriorating day on day. We all have the responsibility to strive for the growth of our country as in a short time as possible,'' Suu Kyi said.

A five-page statement released at the stateliness also demanded the release of all political prisoners, liberated functioning of all political parties, the right of engagement in political activities for the general public and freedom of publication.

''The NLD and ethnic nationality parties are prepared and ready to open dialogue without preconditions. It is ironic that the SPDC has indicated that it is in no humor for dialogue. It is entirely up to the SPDC to break the ice dialogue as soon as possible,'' the statement said.

Union Day marks the day in 1947 that Gen Aung San, national hero and Suu Kyi's father, and leaders of many of Myanmar's minorities signed an agreement to demand clean independence for Myanmar from Britain.

Blaming Myanmar's question s on ''destructive elements inside and outside the country'' junta chief Senior Gen Than Shwe said earlier Wednesday all ethnic arranges in the country should ''join together'' to exalt national reconciliation.
