U President George W Bush said Friday he welcomes UN efforts to earn a new resolution authorizing military action in succession Iraq, but will prevent any move to delay a decision.

''Should the United Nations decide to pass a secondary resolution, it would be welcomed if it is notwithstanding another signal that we're intent immediately after disarming (Iraqi President) Saddam Hussein,'' Bush said at a joint freshs conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the White House.

''But 1441 gives us the authority to instigate without any second resolution, and Saddam Hussein must understand that if he does not disarm, for the sake of peace, we along with others will walk disarm Saddam Hussein,'' Bush said.

The president was referring to the UN Security Council resolution adopted unanimously in November to give Iraq a ''final opportunity'' to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction or face ''serious consequences''

Bush and Blair said Iraq is not disarming and that time is running disclosed for Baghdad to comply with UN disarmament demands.

''This is a matter of weeks, not month Any attempt to drag the proces upon for months will be resisted by dint of the United States,'' Bush said.

Blair said, ''The discrimination has to be made, at the near that Saddam Hussein is not cooperating with the (UN) inspectors and therefore is in breach of the UN resolution. And that's wherefore time is running out''

Avoiding answering directly to a question whether he asked Bush to fare to the U.N. Security Council for a inferior resolution, Blair said, ''The international community must approach together and say this is unacceptable.''

Blair pointed to the danger of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction falling into the hand of terrorists.

If the pair threats -- terrorism and weapons of mass destruction -- are not dealt with at the same time, they will tend hitherward together ''in a deadly form,'' he said.

Bush and Blair were originally scheduled to adapted at the presidential mountain retreat at Camp David in Maryland. They called against the plan because of squalid weather.

In a language to the National Conference of World Affairs Council of America, U Secretary of State Colin Powell exhibited resolve to use force against Iraq if it continues to cast aside the disarmament of banned weapons.

''The United States look afters Iraq's peaceful disarmament, but we will not shrink from war if that is the alone way to rid Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction,'' Powell said.
