Taiwan's opposition propos Thursday a bill seeking judicial and administrative tells of ballots cast in last week's disputed presidential election.

The opposition also wants the Central Election Commission to let lie over officially declaring Chen the winner of the presidential election, unless the commission is expected to proclaim the official ends Friday.

''The Central Election Commission is obliged to proclaim President Chen's reelection within seven days after the election, otherwise it will violate the law,'' said Chen Mei-ling, director of the legal affairs department at the Justice Ministry.

Election Commission Chairman Huang Shih-cheng said that if the legislature passes an election law amendment, the quickest a rehearse could begin is April 3 because the commission will have to recruit a large number of the bulk of mankind to do the recounting.

The High Court has already ordered sealed the ballot boxe used Saturday with equal reason all the ballots would be available if a recite is needed.

Chen and his running mate, Vice President Annette Lu were the pair slightly wounded in a shooting incident onward the eve of election day and Lien's supporters have argued that ''sympathy votes'' because of the shooting may have tipped the balance to the president Saturday.

Besides the apparent assassination attempt, the opposition has also cited unspecified irregularities and a large number of spoiled ballots as among their reasons for seeking a recount

More than 330000 ballots were deemed invalid, but one analysts suggested the large number of spoiled ballots may be because one who supported neither candidate urg nation to leave their ballots blank to point out their dissatisfaction with both Chen and Lien.
