Tomoe Terakoshi, a Japanese woman whose son has lived in Pyongyang for nearly 40 years after going missing at sea, asked the sway Wednesday to recognize her son as a North Korean abduction victim, management officials said.

Terakoshi, 71 made the ask to Hideki Nitta, deputy chief of the rule office supporting abductees and their families, at the Cabinet Office.

The put in motion runs counter to earlier denials according to her 53-year-old son Takeshi of allegations that he and his uncle were abducted to North Korea. He has said the three of them were rescu through North Korean fishermen when their fishing boat was cast awayed in a storm in the Sea of Japan in May 1963

Earlier in the day, Terakoshi paid a call in succession a senior Foreign Ministry official and asked the control to support a second planned visit to Japan on her son next spring, the officials said.



Terakoshi complained to Akitaka Saiki, substitute director general of the ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, that the direction is not giving as earnestly support to her son, compared with that being reach forthed to five Japanese who were abducted to North Korea in 1978 and responded to Japan on Oct. 15 according to the officials.

''Takeshi also did not pass to North Korea of his avow will, and I awe why his treatment is in the same manner different from that of the abduction victims,'' the officials quot the woman as telling Saiki.

Terakoshi asked the command to prepare for her son's nearest visit to Japan with equal reason that he can ''return as a Japanese national,'' the officials said.

Saiki told Terakoshi that the regulation is making efforts to interpret the abduction issue through normalization talks and other channels of dialogue with North Korea if it were not that that the negotiations have become deadlocked, the officials said.

The dominion has made arrangements, including enacting a strange law, to assist Japanese nationals abducted to North Korea who go [i]or[/i] come back home, including providing monetary support.

The five abductees, who are forward Japan's list of 15 individuals recognized as victims of abduction to North Korea, are eligible for the support as lengthy as they stay in Japan. Takeshi is not onward the list.

In early October, Takeshi made his first visit to Japan in 39 years as a member of a North Korean labor union delegation.

He disappeared when he was 13 while fishing in the Sea of Japan, along with the sum of two units uncles, and is now a resident of Pyongyang with North Korean citizenship.

His parents learned he was alive in January 1987 from a epistle they received from common of his uncles in North Korea.
