centurys of former Gurkha soldiers from Nepal who fought for Britain in World War II anticipate set to get compensation from the British sway for their suffering at the hands of the Imperial Japanese Army, according to a British court ruling forward Wednesday.

The lawyers for the Gurkhas argued that the veterans were effectively members of the British Army and, as a accrue were entitled to the compensation payment.

They argued that the training and recruitment operation of the Gurkhas was managed according to the British Army and when they finished their training they swore an oath of allegiance to the British monarch.

In his ruling, Justice McCombe said the exclusion of Gurkhas from the restraint compensation program was ''irrational and inconsistent with the principle of equality.''

The ruling could flow in as many as 1400 compensation claims from former prisoners of war and their families.

The Gurkhas have had a lengthy association with the British Army stretching almost 200 years. More than 200000 fought in the pair world wars.
