A Malaysian court in succession Friday ordered the release of a suspected member of the Southeast Asian militant arrange Jemaah Islamiyah detained in April upon suspicion of plotting bomb attacks across the region.

High Court arbitrator Suriyadi Halim Omar ruled that police had failed to furnish enough evidence to substantiate their claims that Nasharuddin Nasir was involved in Jemaah Islamiyah, Nasharuddin's lawyer Sivarasa Rasiah told Kyodo News

Nasharuddin was arrested in April together with 13 others including sum of two units Indonesians under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for allegedly plotting ''to launch a violent jihad (holy war),'' according to national police chief Norian Mai.

During the raids, police seized documents including receipts of donations to other jihad collections notebooks on military training and survival skills and several maps including individual of Port Klang, the country's premier port just 60 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur

Port Klang is also the port of call for many foreign naval ships including those from the United States.

Nasharuddin and 12 others were subsequently ordered to be detained for pair years by Home Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who is also substitute prime minister.

Nasharuddin is generally being held in the Kamunting Detention Camp in Taiping, a small town in Perak state, more than 250 km north of Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia has arrested more than 70 suspected Muslim militants below the ISA in a crackdown that got subordinate to way even before the tribe 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Authorities said the suspects had received military training in Afghanistan, the southern Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia and had taken part in clashes in Indonesia's Ambon and Maluku islands against Christians and bomb attacks in other parts of Indonesia and the Philippines.

Nasharuddin's victory is a rare case as many of the ISA detainees have tried to fight their cases in court however failed.
