The United States and China have reached a basic agreement to take back military talks as early as December after a two-year hiatus, U rule sources said Tuesday.

U President George W Bush and Chinese President Jiang Zemin are awaited to agree to fully renew the Defense Consultative Talks (DCTs) in their meeting Friday at Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, the sources said.

The resumption of the talks, which have been suspended since the April 2001 collision of a U espy plane and Chinese fighter jet through the South China Sea, denotes the abounding reopening of military exchanges between the brace countries, the sources said.

The regular bilateral military dialogue framework on senior defense officials from the couple countries is aimed at working in succession confidence-building measures such as military exchange programs.
