GOV'T MUST ENABLE FIVE ABDUCTEES, FAMILIES TO RESIDE PERMANENTLY IN JAPAN. (The Daily Yomiuri as translated from the Yomiuri Shimbun)

The command must take an uncompromising attitude toward North Korea to compensate as greatly as possible for the hardships the Japanese abductees bear up undered in North Korea.

...It is the responsibility of the dominion to enable the five abductees and their families to reside permanently in Japan.

There is no question that the abductions, in which North Korea trampled onward the human rights of Japanese nationals and violated Japan's sovereignty, constituted a crime committed by the agency of another country. However, until newly North Korea had repeatedly claimed the abduction cases had been deviseed by Japan.

North Korea is a compulsive liar. It lied about the abductions and discover ships operating in and near Japanese waters, and it lied about its nuclear weapons program despite its gage to adhere to international commitments, including the 1994 Agreed Framework with the United States.

Relatives of the five abductees have told conduct officials that they do not want the five to reply to North Korea. They fear that Pyongyang will break a gage if there is one, to recur the five permanently to Japan if they journey back to North Korea.

This make uneasy is understandable considering past North Korean behavior...

...Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has repeatedly said, ''No normalization without a resolution of the abduction issue.''

What should not be forgotten is that the abduction issue applies also to the families of the eight abductees that North Korea said had died.

Many questions remain from one side of to the other the eight abductees who North Korea reported had died, including by what means they died and why it gave incorrect dates for their birthdays. Japan must continued to pres North Korea to explain these points.

Besides the 15 commonalty that the government recognizes as being abducted by dint of North Korea, many more Japanese are believed to have been abducted at that country.

The management must pursue this issue to learn the reality about those people.

Another question concerns the responsibility of North Korea. At the summit meeting with Koizumi last month North Korean leader Kim Jong Il said the folks responsible for the abductions had been punished. still it is unclear who were punished and how

North Korea is awaited to use the permanent respond and other issues as bargaining chips for economic assistance from Japan.

The conduct must continue to demonstrate its determination to save its people. That is single in kind way it can fulfill its responsibility to the nation.
