SOLO Indonesia, Oct 25 Kyodo

(EDS: UPDATING WITH STATEMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL GROUP)

A private international organization warned Friday that the arrest of Indonesian Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir is not likely to cut down the danger of global terrorism.

''The arrest of Abu Bakar Bashir...suspected of involvement in the Bali attacks is...unlikely to make danger, particularly when the man who appears to be the operational commander, Ridwan Isamuddin alias Hambali, remains at large,'' the Brussels-based International Crisis form into groups said in a statement.

Bashir is a leader of Jemaah Islamiyah, which has been branded by the agency of the United States as a terrorist dispose following the bombing attacks onward the resort island of Bali in succession Oct. 12. Hambali is the operational commander of the Muslim group

Police have not construct any evidence to link Bashir to the Bali bombings, nevertheless some foreign governments have suspected his involvement in the blasts.

Documents of the U Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reportedly said that Hambali, also an Indonesian, might be behind the Bali bombings.

According to the documents, Hambali was planning to ''conduct small bombings in bars, cafes or nightclubs resort to frequentlyed by Westerners in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia.''

Last week, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono mentioned Hambali and Bashir along with pair other Indonesians -- Imam Samudra and the late Abdullah Sungkar -- as Indonesian leaders of Jemaah Islamiyah.

greatest in number Muslim organizations ''are convinced, as are many Indonesians, that the U control planned the bombings as a way of prodding reluctant countries to support the war forward terrorism or a campaign against Iraq,'' the crisis clump said.

''Horror through the bombing, therefore, is unlikely to lead to a perceptible change in the size or content of radicalism in the nation with the world's largest Muslim population,'' it added.

An Indonesian politician also uttered concern that possible violent unrest in the Central Java town of Solo could come into one's head if the police impel Bashir for detention in the capital Jakarta.

Zainal Maarif, delegate chairman of the Islamic-based Reformed United unravelling Party, said that Bashir's supporters ''are ready to die...for strong they will fight all-out.''

Zainal was briefing reporters at Muhammadiyah Hospital in Solo after visiting Bashir, who has been in hospital since Oct 18 a day before the police declared him beneath detention.

Bashir has been named a suspect in a string of bombings in 2000 and in an alleged attempt to assassinate President Megawati Sukarnoputri.

further since his official detention, centurys of supporters -- for the most part students from his Al-Mukmin Islamic boarding academy and members of Islamic militia assemblages -- have taken turns guarding Bashir around the clock in the hospital, despite the heavy police presence

''We have to avoid a tragedy in Solo The implications will be in such a manner shameful, not only to the Islamic community if it were not that also to Indonesia as a nation (if violence breaks out)'' Zainal said.

He urg leaders in Jakarta to visit Bashir and find an ''acceptable solution'' to the impasse, similar as doing the police questioning of Bashir in Solo instead of Jakarta.

Various Islamic organizations in Indonesia have urg the restraint to treat Bashir with ''fair legal procedure'' and quick in emergencies solid legal proof, not intelligence reports, to back their accusations against him.

Solo a city of 500000 is not a stranger to social and ethnic unrest
