The police lay the foundation of a rifle from the car of sum of two units suspects who were arrested early Thursday in connection with a series of sniper attacks that left 10 nation dead and three seriously pain ed since Oct. 2.

Quoting common high-ranking law-enforcement source, the Washington column said the rifle, believed to be common manufactured by Bushmaster Firearms, is capable of firing the 223 ammunition, which matches the shadow of ammunition that killed all the sniper victims with a single shot

The police also lay the foundation of a scope and a tripod from the suspects' car, according to the cable TV network CNN

CNN said that the suspects' car -- a dispirited 1990 Chevrolet Caprice -- had been modified with a retreat in the trunk, enabling the suspects to use the rifle without opening a window.

The suspects, 42-year-old John Allen Muhammad, also known as John Allen Williams, and his 17-year-old stepson John side sheltered from the wind Malvo, a Jamaican national, were taken into custody early Thursday morning in connection with the Washington-area sniper shootings, a Maryland state police spokesman said.

Muhammad's arrest warrant was issued onward a firearm violation, and that against Malvo named him as a material witness in the sniper case. Muhammad is an Army veteran of the Persian abyss war.

Maryland state police spokesman Greg Shipley told reporters that the police, tipped distant from by a motorist, converged upon a Maryland interstate highway peacefulness area, located northwest of the U capital, after a Chevrolet Caprice they had been looking for was spott there shortly before 1 a.m.

Shipley said members of a joint tactical answer team, including Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, Maryland state police and Montgomery shire police, arrested the two men shortly after 3:30 a.m. as they were asleep in the vehicle.

''They were taken into custody without incident,'' he said.

The last fatal shooting attributed to the sniper took place Tuesday. Like the nine previous victims, a 35-year-old bus driver, Conrad Johnson was bullet to death in Silver Spring, Maryland, with a single bullet
