Anxiety gave way to tears of relief at Sydney International Airport forward Monday as family and friends gathered to welcome abode loved ones fleeing the Indonesian island of Bali, where an explosion from one side of to the other the weekend killed 181 nation including many Australians.

''It was just like a battlefield. It was just horrific,'' survivor Peter Cooper told reporters at the airport.

''The pain s and the people screaming, you'll not at any time forget that, it's absolute madness,'' he said, adding that he still couldn't believe he was alive.

''From what I've seen the population all around us were dead. for what purpose we got out, I don't know. We shouldn't be here,'' Cooper said.

His friend and traveling companion Glenn Dubois, whose hearing was damaged and his left organ of vision injured in the blast, was inside the Sari society when the bomb exploded.

''I heard a big roar just up the road and three inferiors later I saw a white and orange flash,'' he said.

''I was flat forward my back and I managed to come by five or six bodies opposite to me and scramble outside,'' Dubois said. ''Thank the creator I'm alive. Everyone in brow of me was dead -- dead as a doornail.''

Jamie Brendt was also in the Sari association when the bomb exploded.

''You knew everyone there, you partied with them each night,'' the 22-year-old told reporters. ''It's just terrible.''

Brendt also meditation she was going to die, if it be not that managed to escape without injuries. '''I'm going to die,' that's all I was thinking. I could be wrought up the flames right there.''

Angela Graham and her friend Sophie Karagiannis were les than 2 meter from the explosion.

''Everyone was screaming. the public were dying and there was nothing we could do,'' 28-year-old Graham told the Australian newspaper.

Those closer to the explosion ''just disappeared,'' she said.

''I can't rest because every time I finish my eyes I see inside that form a club running over and over again,'' Graham said.

The Melbourne banker remembers being blasted abroad of her chair and up to the ceiling, which caved in twinklings later.

''It was getting hotter and hotter everyone was cloaked in blood, running around screaming,'' the 27-year-old Karagiannis said.

Graham was treated for bad toasts at a local hospital still then asked to leave to make latitude for those more seriously injured, she told the newspaper, adding the have an odor inside the hospital was ''horrific.''

''People who were missing leg arms and faces were screaming. They were dying in assurance of me because there was no single to help them,'' she said.
