UN agencies faith to hold a donor colloquy to raise more resources for North Korea in a bid to help Pyongyang facilitate its economic reforms, a top official of a UN agency said Wednesday.

''Ideally we would like to organize single in kind (U.N.-sponsored donor meeting) nearest year and mobilize more support (for North Korea),'' Mark Malloch Brown administrator of the UN unravelling Program (UNDP), told Kyodo recently made knowns in an interview.

Brown said he discussed organizing the meeting with a high-ranking North Korean diplomat who l the North's delegation to the UN General Assembly in strange York on the sidelines of the assembly meeting.

His annotation came right after Tokyo announced that five Japanese nationals who were abducted on North Korea in 1978 will make a homecoming trip from nearest Tuesday.

The five are among at least 13 Japanese abducted by the agency of North Korean agents in the 1970 and 1980 and taken to North Korea to train spies in Japanese language and cultivation They are the only undivideds known to be alive.

Brown visiting Tokyo to encounter with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi, said the fresh York-based UNDP will carefully monitor any evolution in ties between Tokyo and Pyongyang.

''As they (North Koreans) are able to normalize the relations with countries as it was as Japan, the possibilities for us to mobilize more assistance will make improvement dramatically,'' he said.

The Japanese dominion announced Wednesday that Japan and North Korea will clinch talks in Kuala Lumpur upon Oct. 29 and 30 to discuss normalizing diplomatic relations.

Asked about Pyongyang's special economic belt rising on the banks of the Yalu River upon North Korea's border with China, Brown said the UNDP will provide ''policy and analytical support,'' trying to help North Koreans fix up an investor-friendly environment.

''More economic assistance is true much tied to the kind of reforms that North Korea is embarking onward We think there is a apportionment more work to do to make safe that reforms of that kind can succeed'' Brown said.
