A U congressional commission released a report onward China on Wednesday, accusing Beijing of suppressing religious freedom, clamping down forward political dissent and thwarting Tibetans and other ethnic minorities in their search for autonomy.

''The circulating Chinese leadership appears determined to modernize the economy while keeping a tight lid forward political dissent, continuing firm (Communist) Party authority and maintaining its vision of social stability,'' the Congressional-Executive Commission upon China said in its first annual report.

The commission urg the administration of U President George W Bush to raise the issue of human rights and victims of human rights abuses in China whenever it clutchs talks with Chinese conduct officials.

''This is the chiefly comprehensive document produced by Congres upon human rights in China. It ventures no punches in describing passing from hand to hand human rights conditions in China,'' Senator Max Baucus, the commission's chairman, said at a of recent origins conference.
