Economic ministers from Asia and Europe for the greatest part addressed Japan's major trade relate tos -- protection of intellectual attribute rights (IPRs) and safeguard measures forward steel trade -- at their meeting in Copenhagen, the chief Japanese delegate said Thursday.

Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Keiji Furuya said in an interview with Kyodo just discovereds that he was ''satisfied'' with the spring of the two-day session of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum that conclud in the Danish capital onward Thursday.

Furuya said the ASEM economic ministers full endorsed Tokyo's calls for the United States to immediately completion its safeguard measures onward steel imports.

A joint statement adopted by way of the ASEM ministers said the safeguard measures ''have be the effected in a chain reaction of safeguard measures from first to last the world, and this has been generating adverse impacts in succession the global trade in dagger products.''

Conference sources said the ministers' proposal forward the steel issue is exactly the same as that called for on the Japanese delegation.

Furuya said Japan also appreciates the ministers' commitment to secure IPRs.

Furuya said protecting IPRs is important because faked and copied productions are hurting manufacturers of high-value quality productions many of which are produc in Japan and Europe

Furuya also welcomed the endorsement of a proposal from Japan to sponsor an ASEM symposium in succession multilateral and regional economic and trade issues in the spring of 2003

ASEM assign places tos the 15 members of the European Union and 10 Asian countries --Brunei, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, southerly Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
