North Korea will continue to solidify by cold ballistic missile tests, making the earnest during unofficial talks with Japan in preparation for the summit meeting nearest week between Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, guidance sources said Wednesday.

The sources said that Pyongyang has displayed a willingness to discuss missile-related issues at the clan 17 summit where Koizumi will confirm with Kim the North Korean policy to continue to be frozen its missile testing.

In previous talks between the couple countries, Pyongyang opposed discussing missile issues with Tokyo, claiming them to be a matter of national sovereignty.

North Korea promised in September 1999 negotiations with the United States, which followed the August 1998 launch of a Taepodong ballistic missile through the whole extent of Japan, to stop testing ballistic missiles as prolonged as talks with the U continued.

In May 2001 Kim said his political division will not resume the testing until 2003 in meeting Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson when a dispose of European Union representatives visited North Korea.

In preparations for the summit, Japan has asked Pyongyang to clarify its stance from 2004 and said that progres must be made in security issues for a resumption of negotiations to normalize bilateral ties, the sources said.

The sources said North Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Kang Sok Ju has told Japan that North Korea will continue with the be chilled on testing.
